biography

Educated in France, the United States, Brazil and Singapore, with a Bachelor's degree in Political Science from Lyon 2 Lumiere University and a Master of Fine Arts from New York University Tisch School of the Arts, Jean-Baptiste Breliere is a film and documentary Director, a Producer and a Screenplay Writer.
 
He has worked on film, commercial and documentary productions in Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia and France, for such companies as BBC World, and agencies Ogilvy & Mather.
The screenplay of his latest short film  “A Disobedience” (former title: The Disobedience) has won awards and has been in competition in several international screen play competitions.  It won the "Special Price of the Jury" at the 2012 International Fusion Film Festival. It was in competition at the 2012 Slam Dance International Festival and was a finalist at the 2012 NYC Picture Start Film Festival. It also received a "Post Production Award" from NYU Tisch School of The Arts in 2014.


Jean-Baptiste taught Documentary Film making at Bina Nusantara International University, Jakarta, (Indonesia) in 2013 and was the head of the Film And Digital Media department and a lecturer at Surya University Jakarta (Indonesia) from 2013 to 2014. He also spent three years (from 2009 to 2012) as a teacher's assistant in "Producing" and "Aesthetics of Cinema" classes at the New York University Tisch School of the Arts.

Jean-Baptiste is currently based in Paris, France, but  has a several projects underway in Asia.

LATEST COMPLETED PROJECT: "A DISOBEDIENCE" (Short Film).

Jakarta, Indonesia: Anggun is a 36 year old Indonesian high school teacher, working at an international high school. Among her students, 16 year old David, is flirting with her. Although Anggun enjoys the attention, she keeps a professional distance. Things change radically when Anggun discovers that Rashid, her husband, is having an affair with another man.

Latest news: A DISOBEDIENCE was given a "Post Production Award" from NYU Tisch School of The Arts. Many thanks to the Tisch School Of The Arts comity for this wonderful reward.

The Disobedience won the Special Price of the Jury at the New York Fusion Film festival 2012. It was a screen play competition finalist at New York Picture Start festival 2012, and it was nominated at the prestigious Slamdance Film Festival's screen play competition.
